In 1952, Pierre Levegh took the wheel for 22h40. At the wheel of his Talbot-Lago T26 GS Spider, he led the 24h of Le Mans from the 12th to the 23rd hour. A broken crankshaft bolt forced him to retire. This incident is said to be linked to the driver's accumulated fatigue. Even after the race, he declared that he had no regrets about continuing solo, that he still felt capable of driving, and that he wanted to be the master of the car. A feat noticed the world over, especially by Mercedes.
