How was the film "Le Mans" received when it was released?
The film "Le Mans ", released in 1971 , was considered a commercial failure in the United States at the time of its release. It had a budget of six million dollars, which was enormous for the time. The film required enormous logistics, including an impressive array of cars and drivers and the rental of the circuit for several weeks. What's more, the script was far too light. Steve McQueen saw it as a documentary, whereas the studio wanted a fiction with a story above that of a documentary. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most highly regarded films in the automotive world. Considered by many enthusiasts to be a masterpiece, not least for the quality of its cinematography.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this declaration of love to automotive history, the GrandPrix Originals brand has decided to market a special collection of "Michel Delaney" automotive clothing , including this polo shirt, which perfectly captures the spirit of the film Gulf. Not only the colors, but also the finish. In fact, there are many important details. I'm thinking in particular of the orange stitching on the shoulders, reminiscent of a racing suit, or the orange " vroom " embroidered on the sleeves. These little details remind us of the history of this brand, this film and, above all, the automobile.
